With Pokémon Black two and Pokémon White two, programmer Game Freak has finally decided to stop beating around the bush and give us a”true” sequel rather than a Pokémon Platinum-esque expansion pack. It adds some context to the story, and the Mass Effect-like capability to link up with the initial game to add in various memories is awesome, but they are relatively self-contained.
One thing that I love about Black and White 2 within the original games is your brand new post-game content. Not that there wasn’t any shortage of bonus material in the Black and White; I just favor what the sequel has to offer. Among the coolest features is the Pokémon World Tournament, that brings back most of the fitness leaders and leaders in the initial four generations for one large tournament. It makes for an enjoyable bit of nostalgia for people who have been playing since the beginning, and gives a difficult challenge for anybody attempting to create it through each the tournaments.
Also enjoyable is the Hollywood-like PokéStar Studios, that hearkens back into the competitions and musicals of previous games — always one of my favourite features. At PokéStar Studios, you and your Pokémon follow with a script (using a tiny bit of room for improvisation), and you’re rated by the movie-going audience. It’s the ideal challenge for my beloved Flareon, who is now rocking over twenty five ribbons, and is now ready to become a film star (if only I could give her a cool pair of sunglasses to complete the look).
